Many Vietnamese meat workers dream of working in Australia, but meeting international standards can be challenging. Phú, a dedicated graduate of the Australian Meat School (AMS), successfully overcame these challenges and has now started working at Teys Australia in Biloela under a 482 visa – now the Skill in Demand visa (SID). His journey is not only a testament to his hard work but also a reflection of AMS’s high-quality training.

From AMS to a 482 Visa and a Job in Australia

Although Phú had experience in meat boning, he needed to improve his technique, speed, and English communication skills to meet the requirements of Australian employers.

At AMS, he received intensive training to refine his boning skills, focusing on efficiency, precision, and safety. In addition, he enrolled in AMS’s industry-specific English training, which helped him develop the communication skills necessary for a professional workplace in Australia.

After eight weeks of rigorous training, Phú successfully passed the skills assessment and achieved the required English proficiency to apply for a 482 visa. This was a major milestone that opened the door for him to work and build a future in Australia at one of the country’s leading meat processing plants.

First Day in Australia

Upon receiving his visa, Phú secured a position as a boner at Teys Australia in Biloela. When he arrived in Australia, he was personally welcomed by Barret Porima, an Industry Specialist Trainer from Response Group International (RGI), who assisted him with immigration procedures and introduced him to his new work environment.

Starting a job in a new country was challenging, especially with Australia’s strict operational and safety standards. However, thanks to the solid foundation provided by AMS, Phú quickly adapted to the work process and gained confidence in his role.

AMS is proud to see its graduates succeed and secure job opportunities in Australia. Phú’s journey highlights the effectiveness of AMS’s training program, which not only enhances technical skills but also connects workers with reputable Australian employers.
