From now on, with just 10 months of meat processing experience, Vietnamese meat workers can apply for the upskills program at the Australian Meat School (AMS). This is great news for anyone looking to join the meat processing industry in Australia!
Faster opportunity – Less preparation time
With the goal of providing more opportunities for Vietnamese workers who want to work and live in Australia, the Australian government has reduced the experience requirement from 24 months to just 12 months.
This means you can shorten your experience time to 10 months, quickly improve your skills, and enter the Australian labor market sooner than expected.
This decision is based on the Australian government’s visa policy change. From November 23, 2024, the required work experience to apply for the 482 Visa will be reduced to just 1 year.

Simplified Entry Requirements
With the new experience requirement, the current enrolment conditions for AMS include:
- At least 10 months of experience in meat processing.
- Minimum English proficiency of PTE 20.
- Aged 18 to 35.
- Good health as required by the Australian government.
- No criminal record.
- Hardworking, honest, and determined to pursue a career.
